THE ART OF NOT GIVING UP…by MUFARO CHAKABUDA

June 16, 2018

When I first started this journey, only closest families believed that this was not only a lucrative idea but a much needed service in most communities. My first road block, as noted in,my book From $20 , was getting the necessary funding. My second challenge was educating customers to see the value of this service.

My persistence, dedication and belief in the business have always been my primary drivers to push forward. I knew that this business was bigger than just me. TheĀ  faces that I saw who were awed by the beauty of the culture (young and old) the pride, the understanding and acceptance.

In creating a business thatĀ  is unique from most the trials and tribulations were constantly present, but did not diminish my zest.

I’m appreciative of the team, of everyone who has encouraged and helped build this business to what it is, of YOU, my family extended and here.

MCAD FACILITATORS…OPERATING IN A POLITICAL CLIMATE

June 11, 2018

MCAD Inc Facilitators are in the business of Cultural Education. Always shocking those in the workshops (students, staff, communities) with the ‘real’ concept of the African Continent. They Challenge norms and perceptions, remove stereotypes within just an hour of contact while engaging in the arts.

Not only are they doing so in countries outside of Africa, but are also challenging norms and perceptions on the continent as it regards to people, especially women being able to surpass a certain age and still engage in either dancing or drumming, while making a living.

MCAD Facilitators are bridgebuilders – bridging cultures through understanding. Everyday they engage in this work with the same passion, if not more, from when they first started.

MCAD Facilitators….we saulte you!

MCAD’s AFRO DANCE CAMPS…what are they about?

June 9, 2018

MCAD’s Afro dance camps empower youth and young adults in leadership through the arts. The MCAD Afro Dance camps feature students and staff experiencing an African Village through african dance, african drum, marimba xylophone, mbira and more!

These camps are for all ages!! Beginning from 8 years old to 21! With student leadership and mentorship, the camps are not just culturally educational but also encourage lifelong friendship.

Some of our past students who are now facilitators started attending the camp at a young age. With over hundreds of testimonials since the camp started it is certainly worth doing something different during the summer!
